John's Story
On October 28, 2010, John was involved in a serious motorcycle accident driving home from work. The impact of the accident shattered his T4 and T5 vertebrae and the pieces then lodged into his torn spinal cord. As a result of the accident, John is now Paralyzed from the chest down and in a wheelchair. The prognosis is that he will not walk again. Steel rods and scaffolding have been surgically implanted in his back, not as an attempt to fix the damage, but merely to shore up his back and provide him the stability necessary to be able to lift himself to and from his wheelchair, bed, etc. In addition to losing the use of his legs, John's condition brings with it many other difficult obstacles that he must deal with on a daily basis.
We are trying to make John's transition into his new life as smooth as possible. His new life in a wheelchair requires a lot of special equipment, physical/occupational therapy, in addition to adapting his house to meet his needs. John faces health care costs that will easily exceed seven or possibly eight figures for the remainder of his life. Many of these needs are not covered by any form of insurance. Subsequently, we created this site in an effort to try and raise money for John's current and future care. Anything you could give is greatly appreciated and your donation will be acknowledged by listing your name on the home page of this web site.
